Time management – keeping a to do list specific for each day and sticking to a schedule.

What is your morning routine and how does it help you get the most out of your day?

I get up by 6 am and walk the dog, which actually helps to wake me up, then I have a cup of tea and watch the news before I sit down in front of my computer to start working.

In the last few years, what lifestyle, habit or behavior change has had the biggest positive impact on your life?

I say “no” easier.

When you feel unfocused, what do you do?

I get a drink of water and take a walk outside , even if the weather is bad.

What is one piece of software or a web service that you get immense value out of? How do you use it?

QuickBooks – it’s not perfect but it does the basics and I feel like it’s a pretty good value. I use it for bookkeeping, budgeting, tax prep and payroll.

What is the one book you recommend most often and why?

I really don’t have one in particular – I read quite a bit for enjoyment, but don’t have one book I would recommend for business purposes. In general, I would recommend that people read about history, i think it’s important for learning lessons from the past.

What advice would you give a smart and ambitious recent college graduate? What advice should they ignore?

Take a job, any job – even if it’s something you’re not totally thrilled about . You can learn something from every work situation, even if it helps you decide what you don’t want to do long term. Also, as an employer, i like to see people who want to work.

What is your favorite quote, one you aim to live by?

Many hands make light work.

I’ve had to learn not to try and do too many things by myself , it’s so much better if you can recruit helpers, or learn to delegate so you have reliable help.
